In the context of the EXPER project, the ULPGC (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) is set to implement the CLAB (Contamination Lab) model as part of the “WP3: Attracting and Retaining Talents” work package. This model, successfully implemented in leading European universities like the University of Calabria (UNICAL), a distinguished partner of the EXPER project, aims to foster entrepreneurial skills and innovation.
The CLAB ULPGC project, short for Contamination Lab at ULPGC, is an entrepreneurship and innovation programme tailored for students and recent graduates across all disciplines. It aims to stimulate the development of business ideas grounded in knowledge.
Likewise, the University of Azores (UAc) will follow the implementation of CLAB at the ULPGC jointly and in parallel, with the potential participation of its students in the CLAB ULPGC activities. It should be noted that the UNICAL will monitor the implementation of CLAB in all its phases, with an initial session where UNICAL will present the CLAB methodology and advise the teachers/mentors of the ULPGC.
The CLAB project endeavours to promote entrepreneurial aptitude through talent exchange and collaboration. It also emphasises the acquisition of transversal competencies, enhancing participants’ daily lives and business skills and significantly improving their resumes.
Key activities of CLAB ULPGC include:
- Meetings with executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and other key players in the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in the Canary Islands.
- Talks with guests from the business world as well as the cultural and creative sectors.
- Business idea challenges, meetings, conferences, and team-building sessions held outside the conventional university settings.
Programme Structure:
The CLAB ULPGC programme comprises four phases:
- Phase 0: Diffusion and Candidature Presentation
- Phase 1: Academy (March–May): specialised workshops, mentorship, and challenges proposed by local businesses.
- Phase 2: Pre-Acceleration (September–November): Group work with individual mentoring to develop a business plan.
- Phase 3: Final Call (December): Pitch sessions, selection of the most promising project, and presentations to investors.
How to participate:
