EXPER Successfully Presented First Periodic Report to the European Commission

Today marked a significant step for the EXPER Project as it successfully conducted its first periodic report (RP1 report) with the European Commission (EC). These reports, representing a legal obligation towards the EC, play a key role in the verification of project progress and the assessment of the eligibility of costs claimed by project partners.

The EXPER Project, an EU-funded initiative, aims to enhance scientific excellence and innovation capacity at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University of the Azores (UAc). This collaboration involves not only academic institutions in Germany and Italy but also widening universities in Spain and Portugal.

Entities such as Fundación Canaria Parque Científico Tecnológico de la ULPGC (ULPGC – FCPCT), Sociedad de Promoción Económica de Gran Canaria (SPEGC), Asociación Canaria de Startups Empresas de Base Tecnológica (EMERGE), TERINOV – Science and Technology Park, Atrineo AG, Consulta Europa Projects and Innovations (CE), and the Canary Islands Institute of Technology (ITC) are also actively contributing to drive innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship within the project.

The review meeting, led by Sebastián López from ULPGC, welcomed members of the consortium, including Henrik Per Goran Aronsson from the University of Gothenburg, who served as an Outside Expert. Mirjana Bekteshi, Project Officer from the Research Executive Agency, also actively participated in the review process.

Five out of the eight Work Packages (WPs) presented their progress and achievements during the meeting:

  1. WP1 – Regional Ecosystems Assessment and Cooperation Models: Presented by Sebastián López (ULPGC), Néstor Rodríguez (Atrineo), Angelina Schilling (UROS), and Michelle Perello (CE).
  2. WP2 – Co-designing Modernization with Surrounding Ecosystems: Presented by Sebastián López (ULPGC) and Michelle Perello (CE).
  3. WP6 – Sustainability and Exploitation: Presented by Sebastián López (ULPGC) and Michelle Perello (CE).
  4. WP7 – Communication and Dissemination: Presented by Víctor Ricardo Martínez (CE).
  5. WP8 – Project Management: Presented by Juan Alberto Corbera (ULPGC).

The consortium received valuable feedback from both the Project Officer and the Outside Expert. Their insights contribute to the refinement and improvement of the EXPER Project’s objectives and implementation strategies.

With this strong collaboration and the positive outcome of the first periodic report, the EXPER Project is poised to make a lasting impact on European scientific excellence and innovation.
