Aspiring entrepreneurs from the CLAB ULPGC (Contamination Lab of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) program took a significant step forward in their journey toward social innovation by connecting with Maialen, the founder of Diversity4Equality, a social cooperative originating from Mondragón University. During the meeting, participants Samuel, Elena, and Victoria gained valuable insights into the challenges and key steps involved in building a successful social enterprise.
The session covered essential topics, including the cooperative structure, social mission, and leadership skills required to drive impactful projects. Diversity4Equality’s experience provided a practical and inspiring roadmap for creating organisations focused on social change, which deeply resonated with the CLAB members.
This exchange is part of the EXPER project (“Excellent Peripheries for a Strong European Research Area”), coordinated by ULPGC, aimed at enhancing research and innovation across Europe’s outermost regions. The project emphasises collaboration between universities and enterprises, empowering young talent to develop sustainable business ideas with real-world impact.
Through CLAB ULPGC, students, recent graduates, and researchers are encouraged to turn knowledge into actionable business ventures. The program equips participants with skills that elevate their professional profiles while fostering projects that contribute positively to society. The EXPER project is a key player in driving innovation and economic development in regions like the Canary Islands, where universities are crucial to social progress.
