The 3rd International Conference for Young Researchers, held at the University of La Laguna, gathered bright minds from across the globe to share knowledge and tackle pressing challenges in modern research. Among the highlights of the event was a groundbreaking presentation and workshop led by Alice Gervasoni, focused on addressing the critical issue of brain drain in the European research community.
During her session, Gervasoni presented insights from the EXPER Project. The presentation shed light on the most urgent barriers contributing to brain drain, including institutional rigidity, limited funding opportunities, and inadequate career development pathways for researchers.
Following the presentation, Gervasoni facilitated a co-creation workshop with young researchers, providing a platform to validate these findings and collaboratively explore actionable strategies to mitigate brain drain.
The workshop underscored the importance of empowering the research community to drive institutional reforms and modernise universities, fostering a more resilient and inclusive research ecosystem. As part of the event’s overarching theme, the workshop demonstrated how collaborative efforts can inspire real-world impact.
