Terinov Event Bridges Gap Between Academia, Business, and Society in Blue and Green R&I

Terinov recently hosted a two-day regional event (February 18-19) as part of the EXPER project, bringing together research leaders, experts, EXPER project members, and members of the EXPER’s societal challenge working groups ran by ITC. The event, held at the Terinov Science Park, focused on bridging the gap between society, public entities, academia, and businesses within the context of Blue and Green Research and Innovation (R&I) priorities.

The first day highlighted EU funding opportunities and featured presentations from University of Azores research units and spin-offs. Local entrepreneurs connected to the green and blue economies also participated in engaging pitch sessions, showcasing their innovative projects. A key moment of the day was the announcement and award ceremony for the “University We Want” competition, with student Mariana Fernandes from the Azores taking home the top prize. Experts from various research units and regional spin-offs contributed throughout the day.

The second day focused on “Match Making Moments,” designed to facilitate networking and collaboration between key stakeholders. This interactive session provided a platform for entrepreneurs and academics to exchange ideas and knowledge. Participants also enjoyed local refreshments during the break, including ‘Gão de Lava’ coffee from Quinta do Louro Real and cheese and creme de leite from Dom Azores. Online participation was also available for this second day.

The event’s key highlights included its focus on Blue and Green R&I priorities, its objectives of connecting businesses with academia and public entities, fostering collaboration, and exploring funding opportunities. Activities spanned presentations, brainstorming sessions, pitch sessions, and the dedicated matchmaking meetings.
