University of the Azores Hosts EXPER Project Seminar: Bridging Excellence for a Sustainable Future
The University of the Azores (UAc) invites researchers, SMEs, and stakeholders to join the EXPER project online seminar, “Bridging Excellence among Peripheral Regions: Adaptation to Climate Change & Restoring Our Oceans and Waters in the Blue and/or Circular Economy.” This event takes place on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at 11:30 CET (Central European Time).
The seminar delves into the critical issues of climate change adaptation and ocean restoration within the framework of the Blue and/or Circular Economy. UAc, with its expertise in biodiversity, volcanology, and marine resources, aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange around these pressing environmental challenges.
Meet the Experts:
- Emanuel Mecha Mendonça (UAc): EXPER project manager at UAc, will introduce the project and its goals.
- Dr. Joana Barcelos e Ramos (UAc): Sub-director of the Institute of Research and Technologies on Agricultural and Environmental (IITAA), will discuss the changing ocean’s microbial landscape and its role in finding solutions.
- Dr. Andrea Zita Botelho (UAc): Researcher at CIBIO (Research Center on Biodiversity and Genetic Resources), will address challenges and preservation strategies for marine ecosystems.
- Dr. Nuno Vaz Álvaro (UAc): Assistant Researcher at IITAA, will explore marine invertebrates, their role in changing environments, and aquaculture potential.
- Dr. Gustavo Martins (UAc): Researcher at CIBIO, will present coastal engineering as a tool for restoration.
